Join us for the Amica Marathon (formerly the Breakers marathon) on October 18, 2009 in Newport, RI.

With its stunning views throughout a scenic coastal course, a friendly and supportive race crew, and a festive

post-race celebration, the Amica Marathon in Newport, RI is an annual favorite for runners throughout New

England and beyond.

The Amica Marathon covers a rolling course on the scenic Newport and Middletown roads. Starting by the

water in downtown Newport, the course runs through some of the most scenic spots on Aquidneck Island,

including along historic Thames Street in downtown Newport, around Fort Adams State Park, past

Hammersmith Farm and the Newport Country Club, around scenic Brenton Point and Ocean Drive, past the

famous Bellevue Avenue Mansions, by beautiful ocean views along Easton’s Beach and Sachuest Beach,

through the Sachuest Point National Wildlife Refuge, along the Norman Bird Sanctuary, through the quiet

back country roads of Indian Avenue, and finishing at Easton’s Beach.








The Amica Marathon and UnitedHealthcare Half Marathon run together for the first 13.1 miles where the UnitedHealthcare Half Marathon runners will finish and the Amica Marathon runners to continue with the marathon race.







The course is USATF certified and is a Boston Marathon qualifier.
